Biography

Lakisha is a doctoral student in the Department of Managment Information Systems at The University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi. She graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Tennessee State University (TSU) in 2002. She went on to obtain an MBA degree from the University of Phoenix in 2004.

Before beginning her career in academia, Lakisha Simmons was employed as a 6 Sigma Black Belt Project Manager for Caterpillar Financial in Nashville, TN. Caterpillar Financial is a Fortune 100, wholly owned captive finance company of Caterpillar Inc. of Peoria, IL.

With a career in academia, Lakisha plans to add to the body of knowledge in business and information systems through research and teaching. During her time at The University of Mississippi, Lakisha plans to prepare for her career by being a teaching assistant, publishing in peer reviewed journals, and becoming a graduate instrutor. Lakisha's success is heavily supported by The PhD Project where she is a member of The Information Systems Doctoral Association (ISDA). She is also a member of Association for Information Systems (AIS)
